Members of the Christian Life Community in Ethiopia elected Gemechu Bekele Lemu the new National Coordinator and Elsabeth Efrem the Treasurer of CLC Ethiopia on 31 August 2014. The outgoing Coordinator, Ephrem Tekle, was praised for his positive contributions to CLC Ethiopia
The election was held during the General Assembly meeting that took place at Kidane Mihret Parish in Addis Ababa from 29-31 August 2014. Gemechu is currently working as communication officer at the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Center and Network, Addis Ababa. Elsabeth is assistant coordinator for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Ethiopian Bishops’ Conference, Addis Ababa. Both make up the National Executive Committee along with Tamrat Woldemariam (Wolaitasoddo ) and Alemu Tereda (Emdebir).
The second General Assembly of the Christian Life Community (CLC) in Ethiopia, which took place in Addis Ababa from 29-31 August 2014, was called ‘historic moment’ as two delegates from CLC Kenya took part in the Assembly. The Assembly gathered more than 40 CLC members from different areas of Ethiopia.
Speaking at the opening session of the Assembly, Father Groum, SJ, Ecclesiastical Assistant of CLC Ethiopia, said, “ This is the first time CLC members of two different countries met in Ethiopia for such an event.” The two guests from Kenya were Edel Churu, Consultor at World CLC Executive Council; and Cornel Okalo, member of CLC Kenya—Kitale area.
